Andrea has over 25 years of experience in the media and communications industry. After completing double degrees in Science and Journalism, she spent a decade as a journalist with a NewsCorp daily metropolitan newspaper and with their digital publication. She then undertook a Master of Arts and PhD focusing on political communications and international relations, including interviews with UN diplomats during the General Assembly. Her research was supported by a Research Excellence Scholarship from the European Union, and she has presented at international conferences. About me
Andrea has over 25 years of experience in the media and communications industry. After completing double degrees in Science and Journalism, she spent a decade as a journalist with a NewsCorp daily metropolitan newspaper and with their digital publication. She then undertook a Master of Arts and PhD focusing on political communications and international relations, including interviews with UN diplomats during the General Assembly. Alongside her studies, Andrea’s extensive industry experience includes media and communications adviser for State and Federal governments, politicians, private industry, and NGOs, gaining insight into the complex communication needs of diverse organisations. Her journalism has been recognised with award nominations including the United Nations Association of Australia Media Peace Awards, the Colquhoun Awards, and the South Australian Youth Media Awards.
Passionate about global events, she reported for the Sydney Olympic Games and covered preparations for the Athens 2004 Olympics. She is committed to training students to research accurately and challenge misinformation.
