About me

She is a passionate advocate for inclusive public Architecture, fostering agency, participation and engagement and has a particular expertise in social impact and public engagement in design; fostering socially inclusive design, engaging cross cultural, intergenerational and broad participation from diverse groups in design approaches which foster resilience. As a recognized expert on Social Impact in Design, Angelique delivered continuing professional development to more than 1000 Architects in Australia and New Zealand in a seminar series across 15 cities in 2014. in 2021 she delivered a Podcast called Place Agency_ exploring the ways in which design can elevate social impact (also CPD for the Australian Instituet of Architects) and in 2023 delivered 'Catalysing Social Value in Design' (also CPD for the Australian Instituet of Architects). She has served the Australian Institute of Architects at the National level on the Sustainability committee, and as a National panelist for accreditation of Architecture schools. She has consulted and been seconded into research and practice positions for federal, state and local governments in Australia, and attracted research income to the university for this. She is currently completing a second book after her first book Conecting People Place & Design was releasedin 2020 by Intellect (UK) publishers with University of Chicago Press. Within Uni SA 2015-2017, she was co-leader of the work package for Policy and Outreach for The Hawke EU Centre for Mobilities, Migrations and Cultural Transformations and delivered My Story My City with acclaimed Australian Artist Peter Drew. In her independent practice, she is founding Director of the School for Creating Change through which she passionately advocates for collaborative and inclusive engagement processes for change. She holds a PhD in interdisciplinary Cross Cultural Research and a Master of Philosophy in the History & Philosophy of Architecture from Cambridge University and completed her Architecture degrees at Kingston University in London and UNSW in Sydney. In addition to experience in design practice, she has also worked across the arts and within Australia’s film industry.
