Mrs Anita Trenwith

I am a passionate science educator and taught in South Australian schools for 17 years before commencing at the University of South Australia in 2014 as a UniSA Outreach Officer: STEM

UniSA Outreach programs are designed to engage primary and secondary students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through programs ranging from one day activities to year long programs linked to their school curriculum. 

Part of my role is to lead the UniSA STEM Innovation Experience (STEMIE), a nation-wide STEM based competition for high school students. I also develop and coordinate UniSA Outreach Programs including STEM Day Out, Engineering Day, Clinical Biology and MOD.ule programs. I am also involved with The Santos Science Experience held at the Whyalla, Mount Gambier and Mawson Lakes campuses.

I am a board member for the Australian Sceince Innovations (ASI) and have been a member of the South Australian Science Teachers Association (SASTA) Board and Oliphant Science Award committee since 2018. My teaching has been recognised by awards including the 2009 School Science Educator of the Year- SA Science Excellence Awards, 2011 Eureka Prize for Science and Mathematics Teaching and the 2012 Prime Minister's Prize for Science Teaching Secondary.
