About me
I was born and educated in Milan (Italy), where I completed my undergraduate studies in arts (media and communication). Before moving to Australia, I had a variety of work experiences, including two years as the marketing and communication officer for a theatre company, and one year as a librarian. I have always had a keen interest in languages, communication and information technology. These interests led me to completing further study in these areas, and continue to be a source of excitement and curiosity.
After working as an academic for many years, in July 2018 I joined the Academic Development team in the Teaching Innovation Unit. I bring to this role my extensive experience in teaching and learning, and a passion for innovation in curriculum design. My research interests and expertise are mainly in the area of socio-emotional learning; the role of emotion communication, humour, and self-disclosure in rapport building; and text analytics. I have published in professional journals on these topics, and am the recipient of several teaching and learning innovation grants, including a Seed Grant from the Australian Office for Learning and Teaching for the project Helping first year students flourish through languages: Integrating positive psychology, transition pedagogy and CLIL principles. Information about this project is available from the L2Flourish website.
