Cheri Ostroff is Research Professor in Management and Organisational Behaviour at the University of South Australia Business School. She is former director of the Centre for Workplace Excellence (CWeX) and former PhD program director for management. Professor Ostroff holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Texas, and both a Master of Arts (MA) and a PhD (organizational psychology) from Michigan State University. She has previously worked at the University of Maryland, Columbia University, Arizona State University and the University of Minnesota and provided expert human resource consulting to organisations such as 3M, Target Stores, the Arizona Public Service, YSC Business Psychologists and William M Mercer LLC.
Professor Ostroff has received a Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology in Applied Research from the American Psychological Association (APA), an Award for Distinguished Early Career Contributions from the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP), an Outstanding Teacher Award from Teachers College at Columbia University, a Scholarly Achievement Award from the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management (AoM), and the Decade Award from the AoM. She is an elected fellow of both APA and SIOP and listed in the top 1% (of 25000) management researchers worldwide.
Her research has been featured in newspapers and magazines across the globe, including BusinessWeek, MSNBC, the Washington Post, the Sydney Morning Herald, the London Times, and Psychology Today. She is an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Organizational Effectiveness,Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology.
