About me
Desarae is a Youth Worker and Social Worker, practicing for over 18 years in different settings. She has worked with people experiencing various challenges; relationship issues, domestic and family violence, sexual violence, trauma impacts, problematic substance use, homelessness, involved in court systems, different mental health and personal challenges.
Desarae offers a space for people to talk through any issues or problems they're experiencing. From challenging or distressing emotions, trauma effects, navigating family issues, friendships or relationships, adjusting to new situations, time management and concentration. No issue is too big or small. One of her passions is sharing information with people so they can understand themselves and gain more power over their lives.
Desarae identifies as an Australian Filipina and understands the challenges that other bicultural people may experience throughout their life.
She uses different therapeutic strategies depending on the presenting issue. Drawing from Emotionally Focussed Individual Therapy, Culturally Responsive Practice, Trauma Informed Care, Solution Focussed Therapy, Strengths and Empowerment approaches, amongst others.
In her spare time Desarae likes to listen to music, garden and watch ‘reality’ TV.
