My teaching and research provides expertise in two fields: child protection and wellbeing in early childhood education, and Australian family violence laws and policies impacting family safety. I have a strong research-teaching-engagement nexus. My program of research investigates ways in which educators can support young children’s wellbeing and learning and social policy impacts on vulnerable families.

Bachelor of Arts Flinders University
I have a long history of community sector engagement with organisations including Australian Council of Social Services, National Council of Single Mothers and their Children, National Child Protection Alliance, Bravehearts, Parents Families Carers & South Australian Council of Social Services. I am committed to advocacy on behalf of families and communities experiencing social disadvantage as well as education workforce development to support children and families in difficult circumstances. My research provided the basis for wellbeing programs in more than 50 early childhood and primary classrooms in South Australia. https://www.thewellbeingclassroom.com.au/ I have researched ways to support preschool childrens' literacy development in Fiji's multi-lingual context, developing bilingual resources for families. I was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia and a Centenary Medal recognising my contributions to policy development.
