About me
Louise Sawtell is an Online Course Facilitator for the Digital Media degree at UniSA Online. She is responsible for leading the development and delivery of online courses in video production and digital media theory. Since 2008, she has been supporting students’ learning at various universities in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, including traditional and online learning environments. Louise is passionate about teaching in the online space and ensuring that students from all parts of the country have access to an education.
As a filmmaker and creative practice researcher, Louise is interested in telling screen stories about women in unconventional ways. Louise’s experimental short films have won awards and screened at festivals. She completed a practice-led PhD at RMIT University in 2019. The research project, ‘One in a Million Girl: A fictocritical screenplay for a feminist musical’, focused on female representation and alternative screenwriting practices. Its experimental structure and presentation challenged traditional writing practices for industry and academy. She continues to experiment with her latest projects, The Washerwoman (a domestic horror), Go With The Flow (a coming of age musical) and the feature film, ace, that spans five decades of an asexual woman’s life.
