About me
Negin is an Associate Professor in Education Futures at the University of South Australia and Associate Director (Research Development and Translation) for the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning. She holds a Doctorate in Education with a focus on digital learning in Higher Education and a Masters in Educational Technology and is a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy. With over 20 years of working in higher education institutions in Canada and Australia, Negin has extensive experience in managing, designing, implementing, and researching innovative educational technology in higher education and in designing fully online, blended, and open courses. She also teaches a post graduate course on learning analytics and digital learning design and has previously co-designed and co-taught the award-winning Coursera MOOC titled Learning to Teach Online at UNSW Australia and has previously co-designed and co-taught the EdX MOOC titled Pivoting to Online Teaching: Research and Practitioner Perspectives.
Negin's research focuses on Higher Education with a particular focus on learning analytics for learning design, qualitative research related to learning analytics, generative AI in education, video-based learning, self-regulated learning, and technology adoption. Her current research project focuses on university students self-regulated learning approaches and their adoption of Generative AI. She supervises PhD students conducting research related to learning analytics, self-regulated learning, and higher education. Her work has been published in leading education technology journals such as Australasian Journal of Educational Technology, Educational Technology Research and Development, Computers & Education, and Computers in Human Behaviour and currently teaches post graduate courses on learning analytics and learning design. She is also one of the chairs of the doctoral consortiums at the International Learning Analytics and Knowledge conference (2024-2026) providing mentorship and networking opportunities for doctoral students conducting research related to the field of learning analytics globally.
