About me
I have changed careers several times: My first job (while still at Uni) was teaching Maths at high school. I then studied Accounting (which I didn't finish!) before working for an insurance company. A few years in the Recruitment industry was next, followed by working for a Bank and finally working as a Careers Adviser. During that time I experienced the emotion of feeling stuck through having no idea which career or job to pursue as well as experiencing the heartache of losing a job I really liked.
Most of my career has been in leadership positions in the financial services industry working with companies like AMP and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. However about 10 years ago I decided that I much preferred talking to people about their hopes, aspirations and challenges rather than money. So I went back to Uni to complete a Psychology degree.
Now as a career coach and academic tutor, I work with individuals ranging from university students trying to find their way in the world to newly arrived skilled migrants, to individuals returning to work after injury or illness, to mature-aged employees working through complex and sensitive career transitions.
I have 2 adult children - one of whom has his own aquaculture business and the youngest of whom is completing a motor mechanic apprenticeship. When I'm not teaching BUSS 1060 Career Development for Professionals or helping people manage their careers, you may find me either on a lawn bowls green (I'm a member of the Adelaide Bowling Club) or at Prospect Oval watching the North Adelaide football team play.
