About me
As an international economist, I firmly believe that rigorous and engaged economic research can significantly improve our global community. Inspired by this, my research has focused on theoretically based applied economics that address policy-related questions, mainly in the context of trade. My research interests include international trade and the economic development of Asian economies, specifically focusing on global value chains (GVCs), trade and labor market interactions, and firm dynamics in international trade. My research has unraveled the complexities of firm-level decisions in the global value chains, especially in Asian developing countries, highlighting the role of GVCs in reshaping the labor market, the relationships between trade and the environment, and the impacts of globalization on Asian developing countries. These work have contributed valuable insights to understanding the dynamics of Asian countries in the GVCs and their implications for economic growth and trade policies, which have been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Economic Surveys, World Economy, China Economic Review, Asian Economic Papers, etc.
Before coming to the University of South Australia, I worked as an assoicate professor in China. I also work extensively in serveral international projects. I worked as the project leader and coordinator of the National Science Fund for Young Scholars of China (NSFC) since 2022. I am a regular contributor to several international projects coordinated by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). I am also supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for my research on global value chains and gender wage inequality.
