Welcome! I am an Online Course Facilitator for the Bachelor of Health Science degrees at UniSA Online. I have the pleasure of teaching first and second year students in various human biology and physiology focussed courses, as well as Health and Society.
I hold undergraduate degrees in Health Science (Honours) and Medical Science, and a PhD in Medical Science. Broadly, my research focuses on the hormone oxytocin and its role in the transition to motherhood, including in labour induction and in priming the mother-infant bond. Progressing our understanding and accurate measurement of the mother-infant bond itself has also become an interest. Alongside colleagues, I led the development of a novel assessment tool to assess mother-infant bonding via observational methods; the Recorded Interaction Task. I have experience in the analysis and measurement of oxytocin in human saliva samples, and I am particuarly interested in the ongoing discussion of best practice in this area. Oxytocin truly is an amazing hormone, and I am excited to continue contributing to the collective knowledge on this powerful peptide.
