About me
Dr Jack Desbiolles specialises in on-farm machinery and engineering for sustainable agriculture, working at the Agricultural Machinery Research and Design Centre (AMRDC), STEM unit, University of South Australia. He is based at the Mawson Lakes Campus. Jack is an Agricultural Research Engineer with a French farming background and 33 years of research experience. He focuses his research activities on applications of engineering to agriculture, particularly in the context of conservation farming.
Jack's research interest in cropping farm machinery extends across tillage and seeding, spraying and harvesting areas. He has a proven ability to develop and maintain working linkages with the farming industry and machinery manufacturers, at both local and regional levels in Australia. He actively disseminates research findings to support broad-scale adoption within the industry.
Since 1995, Jack has led various engineering research components as part of multi-disciplinary farming system projects, involving both applied and fundamental field and laboratory research activities. He also supervises postgraduate research on related topics, and regularly presents his research at national and international conferences. Over the last 15 years, Jack has also actively been involved in farm mechanization development work in South Asia, S.E. Asia, north and east Africa and the Middle East. He is widely recognised within the agricultural engineering research community both in Australia and overseas.
