Dr Leach is a Senior Research Fellow with the Department of Rural Health at the University of South Australia. He is also a Registered nurse and naturopath. Dr Leach completed his Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1994, followed by a Diploma of Applied Science (Naturopathy) in 1998, Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree in 2000, and Diploma of Clinical Nutrition in 2008. About me
Dr Leach is a Senior Research Fellow with the Department of Rural Health at the University of South Australia. He is also a Registered nurse and naturopath. Dr Leach completed his Bachelor of Nursing degree in 1994, followed by a Diploma of Applied Science (Naturopathy) in 1998, Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree in 2000, and Diploma of Clinical Nutrition in 2008. Dr Leach completed his PhD in 2005, which examined the clinical feasibility of Horsechestnut Seed Extract in the management of venous leg ulceration, which encompassed four studies, including a randomised placebo-controlled trial, cost-benefit analysis, descriptive survey and a comparative case study. Since then, Dr Leach has been driven to improving the evidence-base and quality of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), and has made an original and significant contribution to the field over the past decade. He has published over 90 journal articles, 4 book chapters and a sole-authored textbook, and has attracted over 1120 citations for his work. Dr Leach is also a member of several journal editorial boards and government committees, and has been awarded numerous competitive research grants totalling close to $1 million. In 2014, Dr Leach was awarded a competitive research fellowship with the Australian Research Centre for Complementary and Integrative Medicine [ARCCIM]. He was also appointed an Honorary Visiting Fellow with the Faculty of Health, University of Technology, Sydney.
