About me
I am an academic tutor currently working within UniSA Education Futures and an artist-researcher associated with UniSA Creative. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy, as well as a Bachelor’s and first-class Honours Degree in Visual Art. With more than twelve years experience in higher education as a student, mentor, ambassador, and academic tutor, I bring a diverse range of knowledge and skills to my work.
As an artist I have been exhibiting for more than ten years and have artworks held in the University of South Australia's public collection. I have been nominated for the Hatched National Graduate Exhibition, the Helpmann Bendigo Adelaide Bank award, and was awarded the NAVA ignition prize in 2014. My work was also selected for the Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition in both 2015 and 2020. In 2023 I completed my Doctorate of Philosophy. Titled ‘Artefacts from the Black Box’ my PhD research examined how glitch aesthetics and processes of Remediation interacted within a post-digital visual arts studio practice. I am particularly interested in post-digital aesthetics, and how the concept of 'glitch' might operate within digital and non-digital systems. I am a member of UniSA's Digital Transformations Research Concentration and the Australian Research Centre for Interactive and Virtual Environments.
Alongside my research I have also been working as an academic tutor at UniSA since 2015. As part of the UniSA College I have tutored in courses such as Australian Culture & Society, Individual & Group Skills, Critical Literacy, and Digital Literacy. When required I have also operated as a 'senior' tutor, producing additional course related content and assisting with moderation and guidance for other tutors. I have presented at information days, orientations, graduations, and was selected as a UniSA representative for the Australia Technology Network Future Australia Conference at Parliament House in 2019. I have a passion for working with alternative pathways students and I am committed to facilitating a learning environment in which all students are able to extend their communication and critical thinking skills.
