About me
Abhinava Barthakur is a Postdoctoral research fellow with UniSA, Education Futures and is also affiliated with the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning. With a background in data science, Abhinava's research focuses on making evidence-based decisions to enhance online learning. More specifically, his research interest is centred around developing novel human-centred assessment models for measuring complex competencies, which are rooted in learning analytics and measurement theory. In doing so, he utilizes various data science and psychometric models to provide diagnostic information about student learning within the higher education domain and in the context of professional learning. He is also interested in a learner profile approach of representing the acquisition of some of these competencies and shifting the focus from high-stakes grades through static assessments within education institutions. Prior to joining as a postdoctoral fellow, he completed his PhD from UniSA, STEM, and his doctoral dissertation evaluated the acquisition and learning of leadership skills in online learning settings.
