About me
Dr. Ajit Kaur is an early career researcher and tutor in Education Futures at the University of South Australia. She completed her Master of Education and Master of Economics at the Guru Nanak Dev University (India). To further pursue her passion of exploring adolescents’ psychology in relation to educational settings, Ajit did her PhD in educational psychology at the University of South Australia, where she used mixed method approach to address adolescents’ mental health. The research used quantitative survey and qualitative semi-structured interviews to explore role stress and existential stress in adolescents in relation to their emotional intelligence and wellbeing and applies an ecological systems lens to identify the significance of context and internal/external influences. Ajit has vast experience in teaching in the range of settings and contexts in both India and Australia. Ajit has always been an active member of various associations: Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion (CRESI), University of South Australia; the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health; and an executive member of International Association for University Health and Wellbeing. Ajit has published three papers in reputed journals and presented in three international conferences, and had recently been invited as a keynote speaker at the 8th World Summit on Mental Health, Psychiatry, and Wellbeing. Currently she is working towards forthcoming research publications. Alongwith focussing on her academic growth, Ajit is equally committed to supporting the cohesion of Australia’s multicultural society through her involvement with the Ethnic Schools Association of South Australia (ESASA) as a volunteer teacher of Punjabi. Regarding her community participation, Ajit has been accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) as an Interpreter, and provides interpreting services in four languages English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
