About me
Alice Standfield is a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy. Through training and clinical practice, she has specialised in mental health and holds current endorsement with OT Australia for this practice area. Her expertise is complemented by training in Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, alongside a commitment to continuous professional development in diverse, evidence-based therapeutic approaches for individuals facing social, emotional, and psychological challenges.
With a versatile professional background, Ms. Standfield has honed her skills in various healthcare environments, including sub-acute rehabilitation, palliative care, and orthopaedic services within hospital settings. Her experience extends to correctional facilities, where she used her Occupational Therapy-specific skills to support rehabilitation and community reintegration. She has also practiced in private community services, addressing mental health needs for people aged 13-65 years, and with NGOs to serve NDIS participants.
At the heart of her practice lies advocacy for Trauma Informed Care across all healthcare settings, ensuring that every individual receives equitable, high-caliber services and support. Ms. Standfield is passionate about supporting those who may face inequitable disadvantage in our community, through advocacy at the service and system level, as well as by delivering tailored therapeutic supports to the individual. She is equally invested in nurturing the next generation of health professionals, believing that by providing high-quality educational experiences, and fostering the personal development of students, we can sustain and enhance the health workforce’s future.
