Mrs Amber Alexander

Amber Alexander is a Psychologist, Teaching Academic and Research Assistant with over a decade of experience working in the non-for-profit and private sectors. She has extensive experience in providing comprehensive assessment and therapeutic intervention to children, young people, adults, and families with a focus on complex trauma and child sexual abuse, including those within the child protection system and in the wider community. Amber’s work has also involved working within multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating with external stakeholders to provide holistic and integrated supports to children, young people, adults, and their support system. Additionally, Amber has experience in providing supervision to provisional psychologists and psychologists across multiple jurisdictions and sectors within Australia.  

Amber joined the Australian Centre for Child Protection at the University of South Australia in March 2023 and has been involved in the development, design and delivery of workforce development training and capacity building through university accredited and industry partnered courses, with a focus on improving understanding, assessment and responses to child abuse, harmful sexual behaviours, and childhood trauma. Amber is a course facilitator and faciliator of the Graduate Certificate in Childhood Trauma.
