I work within UniSA STEM, leading three teaching and learning initiatives. I facilitate the Aboriginal Content in STEM program; the work-integrated learning course, Community Service Learning and academic integrity/writing activities.
I have a background in academic language and learning, where I have developed programs for STEM students who have English as an additional language and those studying at university for the first time (First Year Experience). Aborginal Content in Undergraduate Programs (ACUP)
Through a series of activities (a culture forum; panels; reflective writing), first year students work with a team of committed tutors and program staff to explore their own culture and how best to collaborate respectfully with Aboriginal communities and organisations when working as professionals. We have worked with more than 5000 STEM students since 2010.
Our team is very proud to have achieved the following:
In addition, I have had the privilege of chairing our Divisional Reconciliation Week Working Group (2015; 2017); co-chairing the 2015 Indigenous Content in Education Symposium: Engaging Indigenous knowledges, pedagogies and currriculum and co-convening the 2014 Indigenous Content in STEM symposium.
