Annabel is a registered nurse / midwife academic working within UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences Academic Unit at the City East Campus. Annabel completed a Masters in Primary Health Care Degree in 2008 and holds other post graduate certificates. She applies an inquiry-based learning framework which fosters student engagement by stimulating curiosity, igniting self-directed learning and finding the right teaching balance that values and appreciates student, staff and industry partner’s experiences in learning and authentic assessment design. In addition to her academic role, she enjoys working as a primary health care and health promotion mentor.

In 2019, received the 'Australia National Significance Award for the Community Trauma Toolkit' (Team Award) from Australian Institute of Disaster Resilience.
In 2016, was winner of Australia Health Promotion Association 'Ray James' Award.
In 2011, received the 'Practitioner Award for Best Practice in the Field' from Australia Health Promotion Association and Public Health Association, South Australia

Annabel coordinates courses and teachers into both the under and post graduate nursing and midwifery programs. Her teaching interests include primary health care, health promotion, child and adolescent mental health and rural, regional and remote health. In 2021, her teaching highlight was being the primary author of Nursing Context of Practice: Primary Health Care (NURS 3045) and Best Practice in Adolescent Mental Health (NURS 5164). In 2022, she was part of the course development, writing and assessment design teams for the following three courses: Nephrology Nursing (NURS 5169), Perioperative Nursing (NURS 5170) and Introduction to High Acuity Nursing and Midwifery (NURS 5172).
