About me
Anne is an international development specialist with extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region. She is also an education specialist with experience in teacher education; anti-bias education; educational reform focusing on access and participation; and early childhood education. Her work has been in Argentina, Cambodia, East Timor, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, the Philippines, Nauru, Tonga, the USA, Vanuatu and Vietnam. Anne's research contribution has focused on the complex issues and challenges facing families and children who are among the most marginalized members of society. In Australia, her research work has been in partnership with Indigenous communities (in rural and remote communities), immigrant families and rural women. Partners in this research have been Aboriginal communities in the northern country areas of South Australia, the Bureau of Immigration, Multicultural and Population, the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services and the South Australian Department of Education and Children Services. Anne is a widely recognised child advocate with a long commitment to promoting and protecting children’s rights and working proactively to support children’s access to and participation in education. In recognition of her service to early childhood and primary education, particularly relating to Indigenous communities in rural and isolated areas of Australia and Papua New Guinea, Anne was admitted as an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) General Division in 2004.
