Dr Asif Iqbal

Dr. Asif Iqbal is an Environmental Specialist, with a proven track record in Environmental Assessment, Modelling, Monitoring, Planning and Management strategies. He is recognized for his research works and experiences in Emissions (GHGs/climate forcers, and pollutants) modelling, emission reduction strategies for industries and transport, transport planning, effects/risk assessment, environmental modelling, and sustainability assessment. He has been particularly interested in developing environmental management strategies ensuring eco-efficiency. Along with a complete mixture of science, engineering and planning dexterity, Dr. Iqbal has the exposure of coordinating/fulfilling projects with local, international and multinational stakeholders, for example,

• 2017-19: Development of design procedure and software for Concrete Block Pavement (CBP) and Permeable Pavements for Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA) Limited: DesignPave v1.0 and Permpave v2.0.
• 2008-2011: AIRPET (Improving air quality in Asian developing countries) project funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) involving 6 partner countries.
• 2007-2008:  Project “Malé Declaration on Control and Prevention of Air Pollution and Its Likely Transboundary Effects for South Asia” by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) involving 8 partner countries.

He obtained his PhD in Environmental Modelling/Transport Planning from the University of South Australia (UniSA) in 2016. The title of his PhD dissertation was - “Modelling eco-efficiency for vehicular emissions”. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Khulna University, Bangladesh, and then a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.
