About me
Bianca is a lecturer at the University of South Australia, UniSA College. Bianca is the course coordinator for Australian Culture and Society, Individual and Group Skills and Business Fundamentals. She has extensive experience teaching within the higher education sector in the disciplines of Communications, Business (Sport and Recreation Management) and Sociology. Bianca has held a variety of teaching and research appointments across a number of institutions including University of Queensland, Griffith University, University of Southern Queensland and Queensland Institute of Business and Technology (QIBT).
Bianca’s research portfolio is eclectic; with a background in Leisure Management, Bianca’s research originated with an exploration into the barriers and constraints to physical activity with a focus on body image and social physique anxiety. In 2005, Bianca made the move from Queensland to pursue her PhD, whilst also accepting a role as a senior researcher in the School of Management. In 2010, Bianca completed a Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation and was awarded her PhD in marketing psychology.
Bianca’s PhD research received wide spread national and international attention across all media channels (e.g. Interviews with Dr Price discussing physical attractiveness in the staff customer interface include Time Magazine, One India, The Press, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, Irish Independent; and nationally with, The Age, ABC, Life Matters (ABC National), Sydney Morning Herald, The Checkout TV Series). However, prior to her academic appointments Bianca has extensive experience in executive management roles across the University sector as well as in Business and Corporate events.
In recent years Bianca’s research has focused on enhancing the student experience, using social media as an educational tool and platform for student engagement. As the chief co-coordinator of the UniSA College Alumni Mentor Program, Bianca now has a keen research interest in understanding and providing effective support strategies for enabling students.
Bianca’s teaching has been recognized though awards from the University of South Australia for teaching and learning performance in the Business School. Currently Bianca is a Peer Reviewer for teaching and learning at UniSA. Finally she has contributed to a number of applied research projects including work with the Australian International 3 Day Event as well as Sport and Recreation Queensland. With this strong and diverse academic background Bianca brings years of experience in teaching and research to UniSA College.
