Brian is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng NER APEC Engineer IntPE RPEQ) and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia (FIEAust).
Brian is an award winning presenter, communicator, and TEDx Speaker; and his main areas of focus include project management, entrepreneurship, and advanced mechanical and process engineering design.
He is currently an Engineering Design Manager and Project Manager with a leading engineering firm based in Adelaide, Australia. Brian was the founding director and CEO of Contlen Limited. Contlen was an entrepreneurial start-up life-science company developing innovative Smart Stress Care products and services for the healthcare industry.
Brian has over 18 years post-graduate experience in engineering and project management built up working in Ireland, UK, Europe, North America, and Australia, with blue-chip organisations from the pharmaceutical sector to aerospace to Water and Environmental.
Brian is a former Board Director of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in Adelaide and is also a current global subject matter expert in project management for PMI. Brian is a leading member of several other organisations including the Institution of Engineers Australia, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Australian Water Association where he served as Chair of two Specialist National Australian Committees.
Brian has a primary honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick, Ireland, a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Cranfield University, UK, and he is presently a PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering (nano-materials) at the University of South Australia and was the 2018 Winner of the University’s prestigious Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
Brian is a runner for enjoyment and completed the Dublin, Sydney, and New York City Marathons in the past few years, a former Officer in the Irish Defence Forces, and a keen Liverpool FC football fan.
