About me
Dr. Candace Day is an adjunct Research Fellow in the Clinical and Health Sciences Academic Unit at The University of South Australia. Working at the interface between Academia and Industry, Candace's been leading a variety of pharmaceutical based projects within the Centre for Pharmaceutical Innovation (CPI), supervised by Professor Sanjay Garg. Her current research directions include the development of novel human and veterinary pharmaceuticals for the treatment of various disorders, which engage with industrial collaborators.
Candace completed her Ph.D. with the thesis entitled "Novel functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles as targeted delivery systems to estrogen receptor-overexpressing breast cancer". Her value proposition is having experience with multidisciplinary research, including material sciences, synthetic chemistry (functionalised nanomedicines) and pharmaceutical formulation. Candace was also a demonstrator and a teaching assistant in undergraduate courses, including Drug Development and Dosage Form Design 4.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Candace also works in industry as a scientific and medical writer, bridging the gap between academia and real-world pharmaceutical innovation.
