Dr Chia-Chi Chien is a Research Fellow at the Future Industries Institute, University of South Australia. She has obtained her PhD in Engineering and System Science in 2012 from the National Tsinghua University. During her PhD study she specialized in investigating the fate of nanoparticles in tumour cellular and animal models using advanced synchrotron x-ray imaging modalities. She has specifically developed numerical analysis methods for quantifying the tumor vasculature at the micro-scale, as well as novel approaches to image thick 3D tissues with subcellular resolution. She has also experience in the synthesis of biodegradable scaffold materials for guiding tissue regeneration as well as in the study of biomaterials biocompatibility... Read more
About me
Dr Chia-Chi Chien is a Research Fellow at the Future Industries Institute, University of South Australia. She has also experience in the synthesis of biodegradable scaffold materials for guiding tissue regeneration as well as in the study of biomaterials biocompatibility both in vitro and in vivo.
Her current research interest at the University of South Australia focuses on the development of 3D culture microfluidic platforms towards the investigation of the transport of functional nanomaterials in tumour tissues. These platforms are expected to overcome some of the limitations inherent to traditional models and establish various disease models in 3D. Furthermore, it will provide clues for the development of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic agents and the new insights into the biology of the tissue/organ/tumour-like microenvironments.
