Prof. Chris Chow obtained his B.App.Sc in Chemistry, M.App.Sc in environmental monitoring and PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of South Australia and worked as a water industry researcher for over 20 years with the South Australian Water Corporation (SA Water). Chris joined UniSA as the Professor of Water Science and Engineering in 2017 and currently the Director of Sustainable Infrastructure and Resource Management (SIRM). Prof. Chris Chow obtained his B.App.Sc in Chemistry, M.App.Sc in environmental monitoring and PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of South Australia and worked as a water industry researcher for over 20 years with the South Australian Water Corporation (SA Water). Chris joined UniSA as the Professor of Water Science and Engineering in 2017 and currently the Director of Sustainable Infrastructure and Resource Management (SIRM). His main research areas, include real-time optimisation of water treatment processes (conventional water treatment, membrane filtration, ion-exchange, advanced oxidation), disinfection control, disinfection by-products, distribution system management and modelling, natural organic matter, cyanobacteria and on-line sensor using surrogate measurements, which cover most of the water quality, treatment and supply. More recently he is working on water infrastructure, asset management and smart maintenance using data visualisation / data analytics to improve asset performance.
Chris has successfully obtained funding from different sources, Premier’s Science Research Fund, Water Research Australia (WaterRA), CRC for Water Quality and Treatment (CRCWQT), American Water Works Association Research Foundation (AWWARF) and Australian Research Council (ARC). He also has experience in implementation of applied research project for industry and involved in 2 commercialisation projects.
