About me
As Head: Transnational Partnerships, Darren is responsible for driving the university transnational education strategy and oversees the team responsible for the management and operation of the university's transnational programs. UniSA's transnational education footprint extends across P.R China, Hong Kong, Singapore and shortly Vietnam. Prior to this role, Darren was the Manager: International Business Development for UniSA Allied Health & Human Performance, UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences, UniSA Creative and UniSA Educational Futures. This role had responsibility for driving international student recruitment, international mobility and international business development activities within these Academic Units in the context of the overall university international strategy.
With over 18 years of experience in international education, Darren has spent time working across higher education sectors in the UK, USA and Australia. Prior to his current role at UniSA, Darren was the Director of Marketing and Admissions at Carnegie Mellon University Australia (CMU-A) and successfully led all aspects of the marketing and admissions office, driving growth in student recruitment and rebranding CMU’s Australian campus. Before CMU-A, he previously worked at Flinders University where he developed his knowledge and skills in international marketing and recruitment, international admissions and partner engagement - including oversight of the Australia Awards program.
Darren possesses an in-depth knowledge of global education markets including local education systems, policy and regulations. He has worked closely with an established international network of contacts that include education agents, sponsoring agencies, government and non-profit organisations to drive the university’s international strategy.
His expertise and focus are in business development and contract negotiation in education, international marketing across digital and social platforms, integrated communications and business analytics.
