I have more than 30 years experience in South Australian hydrology and stormwater management, and have a commitment to furthering knowledge of both flood hydrology and urban runoff quality management. About me
I was, until July 2012, employed as the Principal Hydrologist by the Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure, South Australia. I have more than 30 years experience in South Australian hydrology and stormwater management, and have a commitment to furthering knowledge of both flood hydrology and urban runoff quality management. I was for many years involved in the technical management of the State Government scheme subsidising the development of stormwater management plans, major stormwater infrastructure and flood management and in the management of water quality and quantity issues associated with the construction and operation of the State’s transport infrastructure. In addition, I was part of the steering committee and working group member on the project to implement Water Sensitive Urban Design in South Australia. I completed a PhD in engineering hydrology, focussed on the development of a model that, unlike most runoff routing models, includes several runoff processes and is well suited to model mixed urban and rural catchments. I have been a technical reviewer in much of the flood mapping undertaken in South Australia, including for the Onkaparinga River, Brown Hill and Keswick Creeks, First to Fifth Creeks, the Gawler River and Torrens River. I have also undertaken the detailed hydrology for most of these studies, using the model developed in the PhD thesis.
I am also an honorary life member of Stormwater Australia
