Ebony Proud is a Lecturer of Interior Architecture at the University of South Australia, with a teaching approach closely integrated and informed by architecture and design practice. Ebony’s experience includes the interior design and delivery of commercial, lifestyle, and residential projects, as well as interior architecture education from foundation to advanced levels.
Ebony's research interests are associated with tactile learning experiences to inform effective design decision-making skills useful in studio pedagogy and transferable into practice. She is motivated by choosing sustainability through an evolving material selection, detailing and construction process, student engagement through studio culture, and the multidisciplinary collaborative aspects in design education, practice, and industry.
Recent scholarship explores how balancing algorithm-driven digital platforms with tactile, industry-informed experiences can address the tension between ideation and imitation, fostering creativity and authentic learning in design education.
Ebony is an active course developer for the new Adelaide University 2026.
