Fae has ten years industry experience as a strategic communications professional working for the Department of Health in the UK and in Adelaide and has held similar positions in the disability sector and at a primary health care research facility in Adelaide. Fae's research interests include gender and gaming, the digital care work of mothers and the impact of school's digital pedagogical practices on families. Her PhD research focused on the digital home and utilised theories of mediatisation, domestication of technology and parental mediation to explore changes in the communicative experiences of contemporary mothers.

Fae is continuing her doctoral research into the implications of digital media use for family life, specifically in relation to homework tasks and the digital care work of mothers.
She is also exploring the experiences of gaming mothers and the opportunities and challenges faced by mothers who want to game.

Fae provided research assistance to Dr Sally Lewis, UniSA lead for a cross-institutional research project on interdisciplinary work integrated learning, funded by the Australian Technology Network. The project was led by Curtin University and included RMIT and Univeristy of Technology, Sydney.
