About me
I am an Online Course Facilitator (OCF) within the Bachelor of Health Science degrees at UniSA Online. As an OCF, I have responsibility for leading the development, delivery, and coordination of online courses for UniSA Online students. I teach various first and second year courses, including human biology, health and society, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.
I hold undergraduate degrees in Health Science (Honours) and Medical Science, and a PhD in Medical Science. Broadly, my research spans multiple fields including social and affective neuroscience, developmental psychology, and neuroendocrinology. I have a specific interest in the hormone oxytocin and its role in the transition to motherhood, including in labour induction and in priming the mother-infant bond. Progressing our understanding and accurate measurement of the mother-infant bond itself has also become an interest. Alongside colleagues, I led the development of a novel assessment tool to assess mother-infant bonding via observational methods; the Recorded Interaction Task. I have experience in the analysis and measurement of oxytocin in human saliva samples, and I am particuarly interested in the ongoing discussion of best practice in this area.
