About me
I have been the Clinical Nurse at the Mount Gambier UniSA campus for 6 years. This role involves collaboration with clinical and academic staff across the three UniSA campuses to review, create and deliver clinical workshops in our simulated Horizon Hospital and Health Service (HHHS). As Clinical Nurse, I oversee the day to day running and organisation of our simulated hospital area. We have a team of highly experienced and dedicated Registered Nurses and Midwives that deliver clinical workshops to students across the three years of the Bachelor of Nursing program.
I really enjoy creating simulated patient scenarios for our students utilising our state of the art equipment in the HHHS. We create a realistic clinical environment that prepares students well for clinical placements and future nursing roles. Simulation is a valuable tool that helps students to feel comfortable providing care to patients in a supported and realistic environment before stepping into a real life clinical setting.
I have worked as a Registered Nurse for 17 years in the Mount Gambier Private Hospital in addition to my UniSA role. I have experience caring for medical, surgical, paediatric and palliative care patients and clients and enjoy mentoring our students and graduates in this clinical setting also.
Clinical facilitation is another role I undertake several times throughout the year. I enjoy visiting students on placement and helping them to achieve their goals. Seeing them develop into confident and caring Registered Nurses is something I feel honoured to be a part of.
