Ilke Onur is a Senior Lecturer of Economics at the University of South Australia Business Unit. He has a double major in Economics and Mathematics from Koc University in Turkey. Ilke later earned his Master's degree and a PhD in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. His general field of research is applied microeconomics with special focus on industrial organisation, auctions, health and development economics, economics of information systems and electronic commerce.

About me

His general field of research is applied microeconomics with special focus on industrial organisation, auctions, health and development economics, economics of information systems and electronic commerce.
Currently, he is serving as a member of the Business Academic Board and the UniSA Business Research Leadership Committee. He also serves as an academic editor of a prominent international multi-disciplinary journal, PLOS ONE. In the past, Ilke has been an active member of the resource committee for the Centre for Applied Finance and Economics (CAFE). He was also the Research Education Portfolio Leader (REPL) in the School, as well as the research seminar co-ordinator for the Discipline of Economics for two years.
Ilke has published research articles in many high-ranking international journals. One of these articles was awarded the ‘Best paper by a junior author’ award for his publication in the Review of Industrial Organization, given by the Industrial Organization Society in the United States. He also had multiple successful grant applications. He has been a key member of teams which have won competitive external grants from the Australian Centre for Financial Studies, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Regional Australia Institute and an ARC-linkage grant with external funding from SA Department of Industry and Skills and Commonwealth Department of Jobs and Small Business.
He has also been part of a tender for the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office to audit the performance of the allocation of electronic gaming machine entitlements in Victoria. He was a visiting researcher at Southern Denmark University and University of Tübingen in Germany. He has also served as an external reviewer for the ARC Discovery and ARC Linkage grant programs as well as the research grants program of the Scientific and Technological Council of Turkey.
