Jack is a practicing Pharmacist and has worked in several pharmacies spanning across both rural Victoria and urban and rural South Australia. Jack has a strong interest in improving medication safety which is evident in his clinical practice, research and education of future health professionals. Maintaing clinical practice allows him to draw on real world experiences and incorporate this into his contemporary teaching and research endeavours.
At UniSA Jack currently coordinates Fundamentals of Pharmacology (PHAR 2019) and Pharmacology B (PHAR 2021). He also teaches into Pharmacy Practice and Advanced Nursing Practice courses and is involved in the UniSA Intern Training Program for pharmacists.
Jack is a member of the Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacy Research Centre (QUMPRC) at UniSA. Jack's research focuses on integrating methodologies to understand how adverse drug events happen at both a molecular-level and also at a population-level. To do this he uses molecular modelling strategies to predict how drugs may interact with a particular target and then uses big real-world data investigate the risk of an adverse event at the population-level.
Jack's commitment to understanding and minimising adverse drug events extends beyond UniSA. He is a member of the Local Advisory Committee for Pharmaceutical Defence Limited, a not-for-profit organisation which support pharmacists with risk management advice.
