About me
Jacquelina Stasinopoulos is a Research Assistant at UniSA Allied Health & Human Performance. Originally trained in Nutrition and Dietetics at Flinders University, Jacqui has been working as a pharmacist across several practice settings including hospital, community, and academia. Currently, she is also a PhD candidate at the Monash University Centre for Medicine Use and Safety. Her thesis is on evaluating and optimising medication management of diabetes in frail older people with and without dementia.
Jacqui utilises ‘Big Data’ to describe and optimise routine use of medicines among older people receiving community and residential aged care services. She currently collaborates with South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) researchers and SA aged care providers, working on a Dementia Collaborative Research Centre-funded medication simplification project. This project will support the translation of a tool used by doctors and other aged care providers to simplify medication regimens in aged care homes.
Jacqui has also collaborated with other nationally and internationally recognised researchers and has published several research articles in prestigious journals, such as the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association. Jacqui’s research has contributed to Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) publications, including the current RACGP Guidelines for Type 2 Diabetes Management. Her research discussing the important factors relating to medication management in people with type 2 diabetes in residential aged care was mentioned in the public hearing of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety in July 2019.
Jacqui has been a Teaching Associate at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutics Sciences at Monash University since 2018. She is interested in fostering an enthusiastic and engaging learning environment through building rapport and mutual respect with students. Jacqui has recently joined the teaching team for the Pharmacy Intern Training Program at UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences.
