Associate Professor Mills holds Fellowships with the Australian College of Nursing and the Higher Education Academy (UK), having completed postgraduate studies in Health Promoting Palliative Care, Mental Health, Medical Anthropology, Compassion Science, and Positive Education.
As a certified compassion educator, he has taught the Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) program developed at Stanford University Centre for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) for university students, health professionals and members of the broader community. As a certified Last Aid instructor, he is actively engaged in ongoing community education as a volunteer.
Associate Professor Mills is Editor-in-Chief, Progress in Palliative Care, and Editor for BMC Palliative Care, and Collegian: The Australian Journal of Nursing Practice, Scholarship and Research. He also serves on the editorial boards of Mindfulness, Palliative Care and Social Practice, and the International Journal of Palliative Nursing.
