Dr Jennifer (Jenny) Aland was appointed Adjunct Research Fellow to the South Australian School of Art in early 2010. Currently (2021) she is the Chief Researcher for the South Australian School of Art History Project in collaboration with the Friends of the South Australian School of Art. This Project is approaching completion with the publication, by Wakefield Press, of a substantial history book titled 'South Australian School of Art: 150 years shaping South Australian Visual Arts & Culture' authored by Dr Aland. This publication is planned for release by the end of 2021.Dr Aland has many years of experience in working in arts education, specifically the Visual Arts, arts curriculum, educational research, online learning and digital technologies. She also has served as Supervisor and Associate Supervisor to Masters and PhD students at UniSA and The University of Adelaide. Since 2009 she has worked as an Online Curriculum Consultant to The University of Adelaide's Graduate Program in Art History. This association has involved the translation of face-to-face courses in Studies in Art History (Australian, European Art: Renaissance to Revolutions, Japanese and Indigenous Australian Art) to fully online delivery. In 2012, she developed the Masters in Art History course also for online delivery. Dr Aland's PhD thesis was titled 'A model for teaching senior secondary visual arts in a digital world'. Presented in both print and digital form, the study comprised interviews with Australian artists and senior secondary students whose artistic practice involved the use of digital technologies. The study's main aim was to provide recommendations for effective art teaching practices at the senior secondary level of schooling that involved the use of digital technologies.Dr Aland has also co-authored Iseveral books for secondary and tertiary visual arts education, specifically 'Art Connections'; 'Art Connections' (2nd Edn.) and 'Australian Artlook'.
