About me
I love my two dogs, Chopper and Rowdy. But I am yet to work out how this can help me make a living. Fortunately, I also love teaching and research.
My teaching interests lie in strategy, human resource management (HRM) and the link between the two. Most organisations claim that their people are their greatest asset, but do they manage them in such a way that they gain competitive advantage? I teach Strategic Management, Strategic HRM, Foundations of HRM, Training and Development, Recruitment and Selection of Organisational Talent. I have also taught Research for Business Decision Making to post-graduate students.
My research interest lies in gender diversity and providing practical outcomes for organisations and individuals. In particular, I’m interested in how organisations can improve female representation on boards and in executive groups. I am also interested in steps that individuals can take to improve gender equity in their local context. We can all take steps to address gender inequality if we understand the (sometimes surprising) issues.
I have a management/project accounting background, with experience in both the private and public sectors. I have completed a Master of Business Administration, winning the Adelaide Bank Award for Managerial Economics and Chancellor's Award for being one of the top two graduates in my year. I also have a Master of Public Administration (Management). Rather than start a third masters degree, I studied for a PhD from UniSA and received the Graham Arnold award for the best dissertation in the area of Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, International Management or International Business.
I also love my husband.
