Dr Joanne Harmon (RN) is a Nursing lecturer at the UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences.
Joanne completed her nursing degree at the University of Newcastle in 2011, gained Honours in Nursing, first class, first division and was awarded the Faculty of Health and Medicine Medal for outstanding academic performance. She went on to undertake her PhD titled “The assessment and management of pain in older people by nurses in acute care: a focused ethnography” at the University of Newcastle and was awarded an APA PhD scholarship and the PhD was conferred on the 31st March 2016.

Dr Joanne Harmon (RN) is a Nursing lecturer at the UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences.

Dr Joanne Harmon's appointment as a chapter representative for the Psi Eta Chapter at the Global Oceania Regional Council of Sigma Theta Tau International, recognises her as a nurse leader.
She is also the assistant editor of the Australian Pain Society national e-newsletter and is often invited to review for A* international nursing journals.
Her research interests are focused on qualitative research, critical care, acute care, care of the older person, impacts of COVID-19 on clinical nursing, and pain care provision.
Other areas of research interest are nurse education, leadership and the use of virtual reality or artificial intelligence for nursing education.
