Dr Karina Bria is a Lecturer at the UniSA Clinical & Health Sciences incorporating the School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences and School of Nursing & Midwifery and comprising programs spanning Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Medical Sciences, Laboratory Medicine, and Nutrition and Food Science
Throughout her extensive and successful career Dr Bria worked for a number of organisations around Australia in management and leadership, education and research, and clinical practice development. Since joining the University of South Australia she has worked as a course co-ordinator and lecturer in a number of subject areas.
Dr Bria has a commitment to supporting and developing students’ experiences with learning and continuously strives to develop innovative approaches for synchronous and asynchronous modalities suitable for actively engaging learners in the on-line environment.
A personal passion for Women’s Health, First Peoples’ Health and Rural and Remote Community Health facilitates her dedication to maintain currency of disciplinary expertise and industry linkages working in rural & remote health facilities in various locations around Australia. Engagement with industry provides a blend of theory and practice that helps students relate classroom teaching to industry and inspires them to consider options for future career pathways. In 2021, she will lend her expertise in the development of a Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) model in rural WA.
Dr Bria’s research focus includes First Time Fathers and their experiences with new fatherhood, Aboriginal Women’s peri-natal health & well-being, and Paternal and Maternal Postnatal Depression.
