Kate Kennedy (nee Beaton) is a research assistant the Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre.
Kate joined the University as a research assistant in 2011 upon completing a Bachelor of Health Science at the University of South Australia, and has worked across Allied Health, and Nursing and Midwifery, on a range of topics including falls, healthy aging, functional decline, dementia, wound prevention, allied health, the role of compassion and burnout in health care providers, workforce planning, and program evaluation. Kate joined the University as a research assistant in 2011 upon completing a Bachelor of Health Science at the University of South Australia, and has worked across Allied Health, and Nursing and Midwifery, on a range of topics including falls, healthy aging, functional decline, dementia, wound prevention, allied health, the role of compassion and burnout in health care providers, workforce planning, and program evaluation. Kate has extensive experience with systematic reviews and quantitative data collection and analysis. She became a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2009 and completed a Graduate Certificate in Public Health in 2015 through Adelaide University.
Kate's current work is focussed on dementia care, specifically on supporting nursing and other healthcare staff in aged care facilities in delivering safe, effective and evidence-based care for those experiencing changed behaviours of dementia.
The Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre is a partnership between the University of South Australia and the Rosemary Bryant Foundation, which aims to strengthen the nursing & midwifery workforce across the health system through the support and development of evidence-based healthcare. The RBRC has developed a comprehensive research program focused on advancing the discipline of nursing & midwifery and patient care related to population and public health, workforce reform, safety and quality, clinical practice, patient outcomes, and integration into education. Its objective is to enhance innovative partnerships for healthcare research, to inform strategies for: 1) Extending the capacity and capabilities of nurses and midwives to build a resilient, sustainable and collaborative workforce, 2) health system planning, evaluation and resourcing, 3) clinical care outcomes, and 4) translation of evidence into practice.
