Dr Manuela Klingler-Hoffmann is an experienced cell biologist and biochemist with a background in biophysics, who is the recipient of multiple fellowships and awards. About me
Dr Manuela Klingler-Hoffmann is an experienced cell biologist and biochemist with a background in biophysics, who is the recipient of multiple fellowships and awards. In 2017 she joined the University of South Australia, where she leads a small and dedicated team working on translational research projects in collaboration with multiple industry partners. Dr Manuela Klingler-Hoffmann develops disruptive laboratory solutions for personalised medicine, one of which is protected by a provisional patent. She is the recipient of the 2020 Winnovation award in the Science category. Dr Manuela Klingler-Hoffmann has extensive experiences in a wide array of cell biology, proteomics and mass spectrometry techniques as well as in research design and project management. She is passionate about gender equity and was a member of the University of South Australia self-assessment team for SAGE (http://u.unisa.edu.au/about/sage-pilot).
After finishing her PhD in 1999 at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg, Germany, she has been awarded a prestigious DFG (German Research Foundation) fellowship to work at Monash University in Melbourne. After her time at Monash University, she has been working part time in several laboratories around the world and had a number of career interruptions. In 2016 she was the recipient of a Barbara Kidman Fellowship, which aims to enhance and promote the career of female academics. She has co-supervised more than a dozen Honour’s students and PhD students and numerous vacation scholarship students; with multiple winning internal and external awards, such as the University medal for best the PhD thesis in Biological Sciences.
