During 2018 and 2019, a design collaboration with Clinical Physchologist and UniSA Senior Lecturer Dr Helen Stallman aimed to increase student engagement in the Suicide Prevention program Coping Schools through effective communication design and illustration of the concepts and processes. This research successfully engaged the students and contributed to significant improvements in coping self-efficacy and reduced psychological distress after a program trial.
Margie's research also involves publishing and exhibiting drawings and illustrative artwork celebrating the natural environment and exploring sustainability, with a particular focus on engaging young minds in aspects of nature conservation, the importance of biodiversity and the impact humans have on animal habitats. Margie's solo exhibition 'Connected' at Gallery 1855 in 2016 explored ways of visually engaging with this theme, and has since lead to community engagement through primary school projects and a workshop at Gallery 1855.
Voluntary Art/Design Teaching in Primary Schools (St Thomas More and Rose Park).
Drawing field trips and palm oil awareness projects with Zoos SA.
