About me
May is a Research Associate of PSC Global Observatory, University of South Australia. She is interested in managing psychosocial factors at work and promoting psychological health and safety through workplace intervention, positive work climate and leadership training. Her research mainly focuses on the Psychosocial Safety Climate (PSC), job design, and occupational health and well-being. Her PhD project aims to put theory into practice, by examining the mechanisms of how to promote a psychologically healthy working environment. Currently, May works on an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded Laureate Project under Prof. Maureen Dollard, looking at the international and national determinants of decent workplaces. Besides, she is working with several organisations as an external academic consultant by providing suggestions and recommendations for their PSC development project.
May has published articles with the top-tiered journals in the field, such as the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, Journal of Occupational and Organisational Psychology and Safety Science. She has collaborated with world-class researchers from Germany, Malaysia, Norway and Australia. She is currently the Executive Officer of the Asia Pacific Academy for Psychosocial Factors at Work (APAPFAW) and acted as the Secretariat and organizing committee for the 2nd APAPFAW conference in 2021.
Together with Prof. Dollard, May has secured an international funding "Australia-Germany Joint Research Cooperation Scheme" from the German Academic Exchange Service and Universities Australia. She is the recipient of the competitive Australia Research (International) Training Program Scholarship. She has received research nominations for the UniSA Research and Enterprise Excellence Award 2022 and the UniSA Justice and Society Champion Award 2020. Before joining UniSA, she worked as a research assistant for an ARC Linkage Project at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
