Dr Mei Lim is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at UniSA Business. Dr Lim lectures in financial accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Mei Lim is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at UniSA Business. Dr Lim lectures in financial accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has substantial expertise, knowledge and a commitment to the study and practice of accounting. These attributes are evidenced by her qualifications, which in addition to the Bachelor of Accountancy, Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) and Master of Commerce, a PhD relating to accounting practice as well as being a Certified Practicing Accountant, CPA.
Dr Lim researches in the area full cost accounting of solid waste management. Dr Lim’s teaching practice embraces concepts and theories about excellence in teaching and learning and techniques such as stimulating curiosity, demonstrating enthusiasm and empathy and employing effective communication and interpersonal skills. Dr Lim is thoroughly immersed in the discipline of accounting and is dedicated to preparation of innovative teaching materials by incorporating animated explainer videos, which simplify complex concepts to assist students to achieve their best possible learning outcomes. She has made significant headway in the area of animation in her courses.
Dr Lim employs reflections on her own experiences as a student when devising teaching and learning approaches. These approaches display empathy with students and focus on preparing them for lifelong learning and mastery in professional accountancy practice. Dr Lim’s pastoral care is highly valued by her students. Consequently, she makes outstanding contributions to the learning strategies, autonomy of action and personal development skills acquired by all of her students. Her capacity and commitment to excellent learning and teaching outcomes is evidenced by her fifteen teaching awards. To date, Dr Lim is the sole recipient of the most prestigious national teaching award of Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning Award from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council in her discipline.
