About me
Mohan is a K-12 mathematics teacher and teacher educator. He has national and international recognition for his research on mathematics teaching and learning with particular interest in knowledge that supports students' understandings.
His research endeavours have made significant contributions to the scholarship of teaching, and to the mathematics teaching profession. These contributions have been informed and supported by internationally recognised research and consultancy work in Australia and Asia. His research program focuses on a) the elucidation of organisation of mathematical information that fosters learning/problem solving and b) pedagogical approaches that would support the construction of robust mathematical schemas by students and teachers of mathematics. His research on the development of deep understanding of mathematics/numeracy and teaching has been significant in examining current issues of national and global concern including the numeracy for disadvantaged children and the implications of NAPLAN for innovations in classroom practices.
