Dr Pelling also maintains a small private practice in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. Dr Pelling's private practice is housed in the Summerford Specialists building in Aberfoyle Park: summerfordspecialists.com.au

Work history

Dr Pelling began work at UniSA in 2003. While at UniSA she has been the program director of the Master of Counselling Degree previously offered by UniSA in Australia. Nadine's program direction activities led to her gaining a Certificate of Recognition regarding Program Director Excellence. She was also the leader of a project supported by a UniSA Teaching and Learning Grant to integrate video into the assessment of applied skills in counselling. 

Prior to her work at UniSA, Dr Pelling was the Manager of a Dual Diagnosis Unit addressing co-exiting substance use and mental illness difficulties in eastern Melbourne. 

Dr Pelling's first academic appointment was in Counselling at the University of New England in Armidale, NSW.

Dr Pelling came to Australia from Vancouver, Canada, where she completed a clinical internship as part of her PhD in Counselling Psychology. Her clinical internship involved working at the Workers Compensation Board with those experiencing psychological difficulties following various work injuries, including psychological distress and amputations.

Highlights

Nadine Pelling earned a University of South Australia Scholarly Teaching Award in 2004.

Nadine was also awarded the Pearson Education and Australian Psychological Society Early Career Teaching Award in 2005.

Dr Pelling was recently awarded a UniSA Mid-Career Teaching Award and a High Student Evaluation Award (BEHL 2013) for her work in 2015.
