About me
Neelu has been Journalism Lecturer at the University of South Australia for over 16 years, and formerly worked as a Lecturer in Multimedia in the UK. Her extensive background in broadcasting includes roles as a producer, presenter, and journalist for radio and TV in the UK. At UniSA, Neelu coordinates a diverse array of courses, including Production for News and Social Media, Ideas, Innovation and Communication, Internship or Project, Television and Video Journalism, and several UniSA Online courses. Additionally, she manages the Talking Papers series and Research Corner for UniSA Creative. As the Station Director for UniCast, UniSA's radio station, she trains students and manages broadcasts for campus events like Fairs and Open Days. Her longstanding commitment to the media sector is underscored by her 16-year tenure as a judge for the South Australian Media Awards.
In 2020, Neelu began leading meditation sessions for staff and students at UniSA and the wider community with the goal of promoting mental health within the community. She also produces and presents a spiritual program on 5EBi, Adelaide's multicultural radio station, further integrating her professional skills with her personal interests in spirituality.
Neelu's dedication to community service is demonstrated through her active support of Adelaide’s homeless population, collaborating with the Salvation Army since 2017 to deliver produce weekly. She also has a history of working with the Refugee Association of South Australia. Her passion for supporting local communities led her to become a board member for Citizen Advocacy, which supports people with intellectual disabilities.
